Challenges- Due to German perparations for the anticipation of the Allies' invasion, the Allies had to overcome the obstacles and defenses that the Germans had created. Some of them include:
- Off shore rocks caused Canada to attack Juno beach when the waves were at high tide
- The US 1st Army led by Omar Bradely released twenty-nine tanks too far away from Omaha Beach causing the tanks to start sinking
- Strong tides and winds caused landing crafts to be moved off course and land in the wrong places
- The Atlanic wall was an extensive defensive sturcture constructed by the Germans. The Allies had to make changes to their plan due to underwater obstacles and mines, a string of reinforced concrete pillboxes, slanted poles with sharpened tops and flooded low-lying rivers.
